On Saturday 10 May We Love Myddleton Road is holding its first “cash mob” to help support the shops and businesses on the street.

What’s that?

It’s a simple way to use the community’s spending power to make a difference to our local shops, to show them some support and and to meet some of your neighbours.

You simply pledge to spend £10 in the street’s shops or businesses and then turn up on at a set time and get buying.

When’s it happening?

11am on Saturday 10 May.

Just turn up and meet everyone at the junction of Myddleton Road and Marlborough Road – outside the Red Sea Supermarket.

We’ll then head off to spend our cash in all the great businesses on the road – see below for what you can buy.

Afterwards (weather depending) the mob can head for a picnic in the Community Gardens or to a cafe to compare purchases, swap stories and to get to know each other.

Why is this important?

We Love Myddleton Road wants to work with the community and the businesses to save this wonderful street.

To give this amazing road a proper future we all need to show we are willing and support all its businesses. A cash mob like it an easy way to use our spending power to inject some money into the road – and to create a positive feeling.

We hope you”ll want to take part and will come along to show that the community really does love Myddleton Road.

Thanks and see you there.

Just wanted to add my voice to the (fully deserved) chorus of approval. Brilliant to see so many people turning out to support the road and its shops. The queues out the door of several shops were quite a sight. Well done to the organisers and everyone else who took part.

There is an excellent series of photographs of the Cash Mob by Tony Gay on the Tottenham and Wood Green Journal website - along with a report by Stephen Moore

On behalf of We Love Myddleton Road I want to say a huge thanks to everyone who turned out last Saturday.

The enthusiasm and energy of the c60 people who came along just shows that the local community really does care about Myddleton Road and is willing to put its money where its mouth is to support our great businesses and shops.

Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen and to everyone who supported us - including all the traders.
