Hello all,
I lived at 16 Queens Road from 1946 to 1958.
My Dad worked at Williams Brothers Grocers in Myddleton Road for many years.
As a child I would love to go and spend time with the station master at Bowes Park.
We used to have tea and bicuits and he was happy for me to watch him at work.
Later I would go Train Spotting on the main line at Wood Green.
We were poor but I have so many happy memories of going to Durnsford Road Swimming Pool and playing in Durnsford Park in the holidays.
Hours playing football and cricket.
Remember the street party for the Coronation in 1953.
My sister and I were dressed up as Sir Walter Raleigh and Queen Elizabeth for the Fancy Dress at the local village hall (The name escapes me now).
Leading up to Bonfire Day we would make a guy and go and collect pennies at Bounds Green Tube Station.
I now Live in New Zealand. Whoever would have thought it in the early 1950's !!!!
No Bathroom, Outside Toilet WOW.

I lived at this address late 1940’s ,1950’s to 1958. Went to Bounds Green Infants and Juniors. Is there anybody on here who lived in the area at that time or lives at 16 Queens Road now and has memories to share. I now live in New Zealand and have great childhood memories of the area even though times were hard. Roger
Hi Roger,
I grew up in Alexandra Park and remember going swimming at Durnsford in the 1970s/1980s. I volunteer for the Hornsey Historical Society and we're always interested in people's memories.
Have a look at the Bounds Green and Bowes Park section on our website and get in touch. hornseyhistorical.org.uk
