Think the birds know they are being counted and hide. Having had green parakeets, long-tailed tits, spotted woodpeckers, jays, heron, goldfinches in the past, where are they this weekend?!! Just had the normal sparrows, blue tits, great tits and collared doves despite bird feeders being well stocked with a variety of seeds etc.

Ah shame. I heard that because it's been so mild the birds have had plenty of food around so might not flock as in colder years. But I had my first parakeets come feed on Saturday :)

Lucky you! Beautiful as they are, they scare away the smaller birds. What were the parakeets eating? Nuts? I have stopped putting out nuts as they get eaten by the squirrels.
