A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
Seems to me that our loveable landlords along Myddlleton Road are cranking up their activities again. Anybody who has been in the beer garden at The Step this weekend will have seen a huge "outbuilding" being erected a couple of doors down. Completely new shop front has been put in at the old take-away near the junction of Marlborough Road and the Domipol supermarket that is totally at odds with the areas status as a conversation area.
My complaints to our ever so brilliant council have fallen on deaf ears and just wondered what other people think about it? Those of us who have lived in the area for some time will be well aware of the damage these illegal breaches of planning have caused to the area and may well share my concern.

There is some new information for an application for 100 Myddleton Road this week, for 2 conventional (but very small) flats and an improved shopfront. This was mentioned by Lindsey (above), but it now has the plans and elevations. It still means setting in stone the loss of a potential shop. See here:

Thanks Daniel, have commented on both.
Hi,
I know it's been posted about before but there's currently a live application on Haringey's site for 51 Myddleton Road (HGY/2013/2392).
It's listed as permission to retain 5 flats - which we all seem to have appealed against before. However there seems to still be a decision pending on the request to convert to three flats (HGY/2013/1935).
I'm going to object, but does anyone know where this has got to?
Thanks
T
Right, 2392 is new, dated 14 November. Hadn't spotted it before. "5 flats" - that's really pushing the boundaries of the definition of a flat. Have you seen how tiny they are in the drawing?
The application states there is "strong demand for small units". Is there stronger demand for decent sized homes?
If you look back at our comments on app 1935 to convert to 3 flats, enforcement action has been taken on this property, as it was turned into 5 units without permission. Current lawful use is 2 flats, one 3 bed and one 2 bed.
This is interesting - Brent Council takes a stand on 'beds in sheds'
Goodness that building looks familiar! Well, Haringey... if Brent can knock it down, surely we can too! We spotted Lindsey.
Expect you've also had an email today about this one going to Appeal on two counts, both the refusal of planning permission and the subsequent enforcement notice. We are invited to comment on the appeals - you can send a letter in triplicate or do it online:
Dear Sir/Madam
Town and Country Planning Act 1990
Location: 97 Myddleton RoadN22 8NE
Proposal: Retention of refurbished recording studio / live work unit
Appeal by: MrGeorge Souris
Appeal Reference: APP/Y5420C/13/2209872 & 2209869
Start Date: 27/01/2014
I am writing to inform you that an appeal has been made to the Secretary of State in respect of the above site.
The appeal is being made because the Council refused planning permission for the above development.
The Council also served an Enforcement Notice for the unauthorised erection of a detached single storey structure in the
rear garden and its use for self-contained residential purposes.
The Council’s reference numbers for the above appeals are: APP/2013/00454 and HGY/2013/1626.
The Planning Inspectorate has linked both appeals and the timetable is the same for both appeals.
The appeal is to be decided by the Planning Inspectorate, a separate national body, on the basis of written statements that will be submitted by the Council and by the appellant.
If you wish to send your comments to the Planning Inspectorate so that they can be taken into account, please do so in writing to The Planning Inspectorate, 3/01 Kite Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN.
Any comments you may have made to the Council at the planning application stage will be forwarded to the Inspectorate by the Council and they will be taken into account by the Inspector when deciding the appeal. If you do write to the
Inspectorate, please include the appeal reference and send three copies within four weeks of the start date shown above. If your letter is not received within this deadline it will not usually be seen by the Inspector and will be returned. You will only be informed of the result of this appeal if you write to the Planning Inspector at the above address and specifically request to be notified of the result.
You can now view and comment on submitted appeals online through the Government’s Planning Portal website at www.planningportal.gov.uk. Please search by only using the 7 digit number towards the end of the reference. You may obtain a copy of the booklet “Guide to taking part in planning appeals” from The Planning Inspectorate at the above address, or download it from the website at www.planning-inspectorate.gov.uk. If you are not the owner of the property you occupy, perhaps you would be kind enough to bring this letter to their attention as they may also wish to make comments.
Yours faithfully
Stephen Kelly
Assistant Director
Planning Service
Walked past 122 MR this week and through the open door the ground floor looked completely gutted. Is that something to do with an old planning application? It's not something covered by the current application, which has yet to be decided on.
Thanks for the update. I also had an email via Daniel saying:
"She has contacted Haringey and they are putting an injunction in place to stop the works. Lees builders have been round to shore up the building to get it into a safe state.
She thinks the shop will be used as another letting agent."
