A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
Hi everyone
I'm going to start with a bit of a rant.......is it me...or was anyone kept awake by the music emanating from the " Club Planet " bar in Green lanes (opposite Melbourne Ave ) until 3 a.m this morning , this does seem to be getting a regular occurrence, and what makes it more worrying is that they now have a drinks licence....well?

One of my Londonist colleagues went along to Bruce Castle on Wednesday - Torch Relay day - to take photos of the launch of Haringey PARK ART - a massive lion scaffolding structure in the park and a sound and art installation in the Tudor Hawk Tower.
If you've never been over to Bruce Castle, this is an excellent extra reason to go and the ground floor museum is really great…

A couple of years ago I managed to get into the grounds of Wood Green Bowls Club and took a few photographs of the gradually fading clubhouse and scoreboard.
The photographs are in a slide show below - including one or two of the Original 1905 Barford and Perkins Lawn Roller which was still in use at the club 100 years after it was made.
The club itself reached its centenary in 2006 - and published a pamphlet detailing their history to mark the…

A wooden playground recently opened on the the green near the Ranelagh Pub. It integrates seamlessly with a large trees-stump that’s been left where it was felled. The tree-stump can be used by adults for sitting on or as a continuation of the play area for older children.
A big thank you to Haringey council for installing such a tasteful set of equipment. Its…

Elvis Costello is quoted as saying: "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture - it's a really stupid thing to want to do." but ignoring this advice a short series of articles will try to record a little of Our Musical Heritage. Part 1 Wood Green Jazz Club
Our local area has a bit of hidden history as a location for the performance and recording of…

We've just got back from Haringay Market (N8 ONU). Its on Haringay ladders from 11:00 to 15:00, perfectly timed for a zingy Sunday lunch with a choice of food from across three continents.
Located in the playground of North Haringay Primary School…

The "Stop the Clamping Group" was setup to channel the support for action expressed on Bowes&Bounds forum pages. If you judge the group by its goal, its been a failure. Almost every day of the week the clampers continue to cash-in on shocked motorists.
Council Warning Signs
The group initially approached Haringey Council to request that they put-up warning signs at the entrance to the private clamping zone near the Bounds Green tube station. The…

"On my London street, you're lucky if your direct neighbour waves a greeting. Anyone living four houses down could be living in Timbuktu; I don't even know what they look like." That's what I remember from an interview on the radio a few weeks back. The woman being interviewed was explaining her opposition to a new Royal Mail scheme where neighbours opt-in to receive parcels for each other. She hardly knew her neighbours and was certainly not ready to trust them with her Amazon…

A fairly ordinary bench in Palmers Green's Broomfield Park - by the perimeter wall at the southern end of the ponds - carries a small memorial plaque to Profesor Harold Rosen.
The unassuming inscription, stating he "...would have enjoyed a rest on this bench", gives no hint of his remarkable life.
Harold Rosen was born in…
