Gangnam Style Strictly Sonnet

We’re glued to the set every Saturday

To see glamour and glitz, sequins and frills

Athletes, presenters, singer and actors

Strutting and gliding to show off their skills.

Now we know who’ll be going to Blackpool

With the judges and Claudia and Tess

Who’ll be cool?  Who’ll play the fool? Who will rule?

Will their tangos or salsas have finesse?

Shaftesbury Hall Roof update

You may have seen that a professional team have taken the roof off Shaftesbury Hall.  This has been done to prevent squatters returning to the site whilst we apply to Big Lottery to refurbish the site.

The contractors were masked and suited when removing the asbestos.  They have informed us that all the asbestos was removed in a day and hoses were sprayed on to the panels.

For the timber cladding the contractors informed us they didn't need to wear suits as there was no…

A lost cat has found me and I am looking to find his/her (probably his) home.

He is a young (6 months to a year?), long-haired, black and white cat. Found in the Queen's Road area of Bounds Green. Do you know anyone who has lost a cat recently? Very friendly and domesticated. Will sit for ages watching the washing go round in the washing machine!…

Watford Gap

Shrugging off the worn leather jacket, he hung it on the chair back, sat down, and comfort stroked his thin white moustache.  Pot of tea.  Tiny jug of milk.  So different to the semi-stewed 6 pence a cuppa tea of the sixties.  Blue Boar inn used to run it.  We thought we were it back then:  guitars, sideburns, drainpipe jeans.   Cold draughty vans, swapping drivers to stay awake.  Polo mints all night.  It wasn’t all bad though -  this was the place, the middle ground, this ‘no man’s…

CLEAR-UP DAY THIS SUNDAY, 17th APRIL between 11-1pm

Albert Road Recreation Ground on Durnsford Rd is a wonderfully well-used sports facility with a community cafe.

There’s now a new project to regenerate the old Bowling Green and Hut, (hidden behind a hedge at the back of the Pavilion) and give it a new lease of life. Not as an old-fashioned bowls club but instead Bare-foot Bowling, BBQ & Beer – a facility with no dress code and open to all. In the long run we plan to give the bowling green an all weather…

(Another) Lost Cat

Dear B&BC,

Couldn't find a Lost & Found section, so please direct elsewhere if necessary - I have a neighbor who is frantic as her cat went missing yesterday from Stanley Road, N11.  I have scanned a photo I could upload, if I could figure out how.  Meanwhile, as I lost my own household deity a while back I totally sympathise with her - it's even worse as her Net is down and she can't get a teckie to fix it until 4th, so I've been posting for her on Animal Rescue…

Good day to all you spankingly wonderful people of Bowes Park and Bounds Green.  It is such a pleasure to be here with you today.  What ho!  Well, chaps and lady chaps, I am delighted to inform you that in this oncoming by-election, I am standing in this electoral district for the Gross National Interest Party – headed up by our estimable leader, Bertrand Aloiyishious Wooster.  Jolly decent chap.  Great pal of mine.  Spiffing old boy.
